Spring Vacation Reading Project

If you are reading this I hope you and your family are enjoying your time together.
As a reminder provide your child with time enough time to complete his or her reading mobile. Your child should retell the story in his or her own wordings making sure to include the story elements: characters, setting, problem, and solution.

Benchmark Assessments


Dear Parents,
For the next three days your child will participate in the District's Second Benchmark
Assessment in Language Arts and Mathematics.
Please make sure your child gets an uninterupted night's sleep
and starts his or her morning with confidence, commitment and calmness.
We will test March 9, 10 and 11 this week.


1. Study your spelling list of words with the /oo/ pattern. Test on Friday, March 11th.
2. Study your addition fact sentences. How long does it take you to say the answers?

March Madness

Your child will take the district benchmark test in language arts and mathematics this week beginning on Wednesday. Testing will end on Friday. Please make sure you child comes to school everyday and on time.




We will begin to bring addition flash cards home this week. Your child is expected to learn these addition facts by memory and with automaticity. Each week we will add on to the group.


Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 13 at 2:00 a.m. Remember to move your clocks forward one hour on Saturday night.

Weather Watch

We are in for a change in our weather.
For the remainder of the week children should
come to school in warm clothing that is blue and white.

Welcome to Room 6


This week we will learn to make words with the long "e" spelling pattern.


Science: we will build structures using solids and investigate how wind affects the buildings. What do you think?


Social Studies: We will learn the Black National Anthem.


Mathematics: We will begin to Chapter 13: Comparing and Ordering Numbers to 100.
